Gaylord Spohn
US Air Force

I entered the U.S.Air Force on July 26.1960. I went to Lackland afb in Texas for basic training and basic medical school. I then went to Gunther afb in Montgomery, Alabama for operating room school. I then went to Walker afb in Roswell,New Mexico. I worked in surgery for about 9 months when they found I was allergic to ether so I cross-trained into preventive medicine. At that time promotions were hard to get in the medical field so I decided not to re-enlist and left the air force as an airman second class on July 24, 1964.
